After a long time of about 200 years we got freedom from the British rulers. Many of the freedom fighters have lost their lives for the sake of the people of our country. On this day we hoist our flag, sing the national anthem 'Vande Mataram' and we conclude the event by singing 'Jana gana mana', which is written by Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore.People in the country celebrate Independence Day very grandly irrespective of caste, religion and creed. On this day Indian flag is hoisted at very public places including Schools, Colleges, Offices, Historical places and universities. On the day of Independence day, our Indian prime minister will hoist the tri-colored Indian flag on Red fort. He also distributes prizes to all people who have been doing a great work for the country. Like for policemen, Army and other brave hearts.
